Rolled insulating mats for easy installation

Rolled insulating mats for easy installation.

We install the felt glass fiber mats by pressing.

Subject! We buy Isover Uniroll insulation in bales. After they are unfolded, the compressed material increases its volume twice. This is especially beneficial for larger construction projects. The roll of fabric turns into large mats, which in a simple way, by properly cutting them and adjusting them to the fragments of the roof sheathing, we can insulate the attic. Material thickness can be selected ranging from 80 do 160 mm. The width is always the same and is 1,20 metra. The length depends on the thickness of the mats. As with the previously presented materials and methods of sealing, yes, and there is practically no waste in this system, because the cut-off fragments can be used for insulation in the next part of the attic. Assembly is extremely easy. This is a typical job for one person. The tools you need include: yardstick. knife, cutting aid and cutting support, which prevents the knife from dulling. The top layer and the bottom layer are extremely stable. After installation, the insulation does not deform and does not change its dimensions. Rear ventilation is thus ensured and remains unchanged.

The press fit method of mounting the mat has an interesting side effect – leads to a tight seal – without gaps and without the need for additional wrapping. This is especially advantageous in locations that are exposed to high winds. However, if you want to be completely sure of the effects of the work and want to eliminate minor inaccuracies, you can cover the entire wall with polyethylene foil from the inside.. Fix the foil with staples and stick it to the joints with adhesive tape. The wall will then be almost airtight.

The course of attic insulation:

1. Use a hand saw to cut off a suitable piece from the unrolled bale. A straight cut line allows us to keep the auxiliary lines marked.

2. The fiberglass mat, after lightly squeezing it from the left and right sides, is pushed between the rafters and moved. In this position it becomes stuck.

3. Absolute tightness is guaranteed by the foil thickness stretched over the entire surface 0,2 mm. At the same time, it is a barrier to moisture. It is attached with staples and taped together at the joints.

Uniroll insulation: foil is laid between the insulating mats and the finishing boards. Ventilation 2 cm.

Insulating roofs with wedges

Rockwool has developed an interesting technique for waterproofing and insulating attics. The wedge-shaped mineral wool insulation is arranged as follows. We move the wedges like this, so that they fit exactly in the space between the rafters. Cut off the protruding corners. The resulting triangular elements, when pressed, wedge between the rafters. The insulation is now ready.
